This is the place to relax and reconnect with nature--c.1889 Victorian country mansion turned B&B. We are located in Tennessee's most scenic northeast corner--near Tri-cities Tennessee and minutes north of Boone, NC. The inn is convenient to many outdoor and nature-oriented activities in Tennessee, the Southwest Virginia Highlands and North Carolina's High Country.

This is a fine place for an elopement or wedding. In addition to giving you Tennessee's first sunrise, this renovated country mansion combines traditional furnishings and original art collected by Judy. The public areas are mission oak style. The rooms are comfortable, lovely and "traditional" in style. Each is unique. All rooms have private baths, some with whirlpool tubs; many with fireplaces.

Full breakfast is included with the room price with the exception of some business travel discounts (ask the innkeeper for details).

Policies
Check In Policy:
Regular check in is 3-6 pm. Late check in permitted, especially on Fridays. Arrival time will be asked at time of reservation. Early check in may carry an added fee.
Check Out Policy:
11 a.m. You may check with the innkeeper the day of exit as to later times.
Cancellation Policy:
3-, 7-, 14- or 50-day cancellation period for inn rooms. Assigned based on date (busy weekends required 7-14 days. NASCAR weekends carry a 45-day cancellation period.
Children: Children Welcome
Well-behaved children (the inn's rooms fit a maximum of 3 persons; children fit better at the cottage.) Some weekends children are excluded.(romantic times, etc.) Kids and dogs always welcome at A Cottage in the Woods, our 3 BR/2BA self-catered house 9 miles north of Mountain City and south of Damascus, VA (Virginia Creeper Trail and Appalachian Trails). Iron Mountain Trail runs along edge of this 30-ac. property.
Childcare: No
We can try to find a sitter but we do not have one on call.
Deposit Policy:
Credit card required to hold room. Cottage in the Woods: 50% required upon booking. Remainder at 30 days out or at booking which ever is closer to date of stay.
Pets Welcome
No pets (except certified service animals) allowed at the B&B. Pets are always welcome at A Cottage in the Woods. Call the inn for details. Plan to bring a crate IF you pet does not travel along with you when you go out for the day.
Pets Living At Inn: Yes
One outdoor cat we lives in the new inn office and one indoor cat who lives in our private quarters and is shut out of the guest rooms.
Smoking: Outside
Room #5 has a private porch suitable for smokers. Room #1 has an exterior door leading to front porch and porch swing where smoking is OK. Room #2 is near an upstairs porch where smoking is fine (most of the time). Room #4 is not acceptable for smokers.
