River Gem was our mother’s "Happy Place," a peaceful retreat where she could unwind, and where all of her children and grandchildren could come together to make lasting memories. My siblings and I decided to carry on that tradition, and we continue to treasure our time together at Colonial Beach. In honor of the memories we've shared there, we chose to open our beloved vacation home as a short-term rental, allowing other families and groups of friends the opportunity to gather, create their own memories, and enjoy the home just as we have.

Several years after our mom bought River Gem, I bought a house in Colonial Beach and now live just two blocks away full-time. It feels like the perfect way to keep our family’s tradition alive while staying close to the place that has brought us so much joy.
