Just a few blocks away you can find Mahncke Park itself which is a large neighborhood park filled with mesquite trees and a quaint community garden (Mahncke Park Community Garden) with many different types of flowers and vegetables. Walking to the garden and having a seat under the large tree is always an enjoyable activity on a sunny day. The neighborhood itself offers many walking paths and running routes for those looking to enjoy the beautiful San Antonio sunshine. Smokeshack BBQ, recently featured on national TV (Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives), is just an 8-minute walk away and the Witte Science Museum is a 15-minute walk. Also within walking distance is Brackenridge Park, The DoSeum Children's museum, the Japanese Tea Garden and the San Antonio Zoo.
