Rated the #1 hotel in Wisconsin and the #7 small stay property in the US, the Stewart Inn is a luxury boutique hotel offering a traditional bed and breakfast experience. We invite you to stay with us when in Wausau and experience the romance, tranquility and inviting ambiance of our Inn. Your complete enjoyment, both inside the Inn and within the Wausau community, is our singular focus. The Stewart Inn is a beautifully restored and comfortably furnished 1906 Prairie style mansion designed by George Maher, one of the founders of the American Arts and Crafts movement. Featuring original chandeliers, sconces, decorative fireplaces and stained glass windows, the Stewart Inn is among the world’s most intact examples of George Maher’s architecture. The Stewart Inn is on the National Register of Historic Places in Wausau and was the first property in Wausau to be accepted on the Register. It is right downtown on the southwestern edge of the beautiful Andrew Warren Historic District where you will find the Cyrus Yawkey Museum and the Marathon County Historical Museum (both of which prominently feature George Maher’s architecture). We look forward to you staying at the Stewart Inn a downtown Wausau Hotel with Bed and Breakfast amenities.
