Built in the 1790s, The Butcher Rose sits on a prominent hill in a neighborhood that is now known as Butchertown. Under George Washington’s Presidency, the home’s first occupant was Henry Fait, who operated a saw and grist mill on nearby Beargrass Creek. The house (‘Linden Hill’), mill, and 800 acres was then purchased by Col. Frederick Geiger (1753-1832), a Revolutionary War veteran.
